Welcome back Food Junglers. Slow news week this week, as artificial dyes continue to be scrutinised, the Gazan famine gets worse, and PepsiCo wins a lawsuit. Let’s dig in.

UK Inflation: UK food inflation nudged up in May to the highest level in a year, as British supermarkets battle higher operating costs stemming from the UK government’s revenue-raising budget.

Food Dyes: Skittles candies are no longer being made with titanium dioxide, a chemical that whitens foods, brightens colours and makes candy appear shiny.

Recyclable Cups: Starbucks announced the launch of a new version of its flagship takeaway white cup in Europe, replacing the cup’s plastic lining and plastic lids with new biodegradable materials.

Cultivated Meat: Nebraska has become the sixth US state to ban cultivated meat, after Governor Jim Pillen signed the bill that he had initially requested.

Gaza Famine: A United Nations warehouse in Gaza was broken into by "hordes of hungry people" as aid trickles into the Palestinian enclave on the brink of famine and the United States readies new terms for a possible truce between Israel and Hamas.

Beef Inflation: UK Food prices rose 2.8% in the year to May, the highest annual rate since May 2024 when food inflation was 3.2%, according to the British Retail Consortium.

IP Lawsuit: PepsiCo won the dismissal of a lawsuit by a former executive who said the food and beverage company defrauded and defamed him by denying that he invented Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
